Terms of Use / Service

Website use and shopping terms for Dimalight Born To Burn.

1. About Dimalight and these terms

Dimalight Born To Burn is operated by a sole trader trading as Dimalight Born To Burn (“we”, “us” or “our”). Contact us at [email protected]. These terms cover use of dimalight.co.uk and purchases made through this website. They do not replace the terms of a marketplace where you place an order separately.

Read the product description, selected options and these terms before ordering. You may save or print this page. Nothing here removes your statutory consumer rights. Our separate Privacy Policy explains data use and our Cookie Policy explains browser storage. Accepting these terms does not give consent to optional cookies or marketing.

2. Using the website and your account

Provide accurate contact and delivery details and keep your account password secure. You must have legal capacity and any permission needed to place an order. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised account use. Guest checkout is available; sign in when ordering if you want purchases linked to your account history.

Do not misuse the website, attempt unauthorised access, upload malicious material, scrape personal information, impersonate another person or interfere with other customers. We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the service, without removing rights relating to existing orders.

3. Products, descriptions and availability

The product page describes the item, size, ingredients or materials, available options and any personalisation. Handmade products can have minor differences in colour, decoration, finish and weight. Screen settings can affect appearance. These differences do not excuse goods that are faulty or materially different from their description. Accessories in lifestyle photographs are included only where the description says so.

Availability can change. If an ordered item is unavailable, we will contact you about an alternative or a refund; we will not substitute a materially different item without your agreement.

4. Prices, discounts and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling. Applicable taxes, delivery charges and selected extras are shown before you place your order. Personalisation charges apply only when displayed and selected. Discount conditions, eligibility and expiry are shown with the offer. A percentage saving relates to the displayed regular price; where options have different savings, “up to” identifies the largest available reduction.

Payment methods available for your order are shown at checkout and may have their own provider terms. Please check the final total before paying. If we identify an obvious pricing error, we will explain it and ask whether you wish to proceed at the correct price or cancel for a refund. We will not charge an increased amount without your agreement.

5. Placing an order and our contract

Check the basket, delivery address, product options and personalisation before submitting your order. Placing an order is an offer to buy and creates an obligation to pay if accepted. An automated receipt confirms that we received your order; our contract is formed when we confirm dispatch, unless we expressly confirm acceptance earlier.

If we cannot accept an order, we will explain and refund any payment taken for the unaccepted items. Changes to these terms or prices will not retrospectively change an accepted order. Contact us promptly if you need to correct an error.

6. Personalised and custom products

We use the wording you submit, including spelling, punctuation and capitalisation. Check it carefully and do not include sensitive information. You must have permission to use any names, images or other material you supply. We may decline unlawful, infringing or abusive content and will contact you about the order.

Ask for changes as soon as possible. We cannot promise changes once production has started. The normal change-of-mind cancellation right does not apply to goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised. Choosing a standard size, scent or colour alone does not automatically make a product exempt. Personalised goods remain covered if faulty or not as described.

7. Dispatch, delivery and responsibility for parcels

We deliver within the United Kingdom. Usual dispatch is 1–3 days; this is preparation time, and delivery time is additional. Product-specific or agreed lead times are shown before ordering. Delivery options, charges and any free-delivery threshold appear at checkout. An estimated delivery date is not a guaranteed date unless expressly agreed.

We will tell you about significant delays. Unless another period is agreed, goods should be delivered within 30 days. If a deadline essential to your purchase is missed, or an additional reasonable deadline is not met, cancellation and refund rights may apply. Contact us if an order is late, missing or damaged.

We remain responsible for goods until you, or someone you nominate, take physical possession, except where you independently appoint a carrier not offered by us. A carrier investigation does not remove your rights against us. Let us know promptly about an incorrect address or failed delivery so we can discuss reasonable arrangements.

8. Cancelling a non-personalised order

For an eligible online purchase, you may cancel without giving a reason within 14 days after receipt. For one order delivered in separate consignments, the period generally runs from receipt of the last item. Notify us by email with a clear statement, then return the goods within a further 14 days. You may cancel before delivery too.

Please contact us for return instructions before posting; waiting for our reply does not extend or remove the right to give cancellation notice. Take reasonable care of returned goods and retain proof of posting. We will cover the reasonable return cost for a statutory change-of-mind cancellation unless we clearly told you before purchase that you must pay it.

9. Refunds, inspection and exclusions

For an eligible cancellation, we refund the returned items and the cost of our least expensive standard outbound delivery. Any premium-delivery upgrade above that cost is not refundable. We may reduce a refund for loss of value caused by handling beyond what would reasonably be allowed to inspect an item in a shop; lighting a candle or consuming a product can reduce its value.

Refunds are made without undue delay, normally by the original payment method, and within the applicable legal deadline. For returned goods, we may withhold the refund until we receive them or evidence that they have been sent back, whichever is earlier; the refund is due within 14 days of that point. No restocking fee applies to a statutory cancellation.

Clearly personalised goods are excluded from change-of-mind cancellation. An applicable hygiene exception only concerns sealed goods genuinely unsuitable for return for health protection or hygiene reasons after their seal is broken; it is not a blanket exclusion for all candles or oils. None of these exceptions removes rights concerning faulty goods. Sale items have the same statutory rights as full-price items.

10. Faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed items

Goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for their described purpose and match their description. If something is wrong, email your order details and a description of the issue. Photographs may help, but we will not impose unnecessary evidence requirements. Depending on the circumstances, your rights include a short-term right to reject faulty goods, repair or replacement, a price reduction or a refund. The short-term rejection period is normally 30 days from delivery.

We pay reasonable return costs where goods are faulty, incorrect or misdescribed. Please agree a suitable return method with us. Reporting a problem promptly helps us resolve it; a request to notify us promptly does not impose a shorter statutory deadline. Rights apply to personalised and discounted goods too.

11. Candle, fragrance and body-product safety

Read the product label and supplied safety instructions before use. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep flames away from children, pets, draughts and flammable materials. Use a suitable stable, heat-resistant surface and holder. Follow the stated wick-trimming, burn-time and remaining-wax instructions. Do not move a candle while lit or while its container is hot, and never use water to extinguish a wax fire.

Wax melts and car diffusers are not for consumption. Keep fragrance liquids away from skin, eyes, painted surfaces and children, and follow each product’s warnings. Use body oils only as labelled; check ingredients for known sensitivities, patch test where directed and stop use if irritation occurs. Products are not medical treatments. Safety guidance does not limit responsibility for defective products or remove consumer rights.

12. Reviews and submitted content

Website product reviews may be submitted only by signed-in customers whose purchase of that product can be verified. Reviews may take a little time to appear. We may remove spam, personal data, unlawful material or irrelevant and abusive content; an honest negative opinion is not a reason by itself to remove a review.

Submit your own experience and do not post private information about others. You retain ownership of your review and give us permission to display and format it for the website. Etsy reviews, where displayed, remain identified by their source. We will not assign an Etsy shop review to a specific product without a reliable match.

13. Website content, links and availability

Our branding, photographs, text and website design belong to us or their respective owners. You may browse, share product links and save information for personal use. Commercial copying or reuse requires the relevant rights holder’s permission. Links to external services are provided for convenience; purchases or interactions there may be governed by separate terms.

We aim to keep the site available and accurate but occasional maintenance or technical errors may occur. Please contact us if a problem affects your order. We do not exclude rights or liability that the law requires us to retain.

14. Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, defective products where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, or any other non-excludable liability.

Products are supplied for personal, domestic use unless we separately agree business supply terms. Contact us before buying for resale or another commercial purpose. Events outside our reasonable control may affect performance; we will take reasonable steps to reduce their effect and explain your cancellation or refund options. Such events do not remove your statutory rights.

15. Complaints and resolving disputes

Contact [email protected] with your order number and the outcome you seek. We will consider the complaint and try to resolve it fairly. You may obtain independent consumer advice from Citizens Advice or the relevant service where you live. If we cannot resolve a complaint, we will provide any alternative dispute-resolution information required by law and explain whether we agree to participate.

UK mandatory consumer protections apply. Nothing in these terms prevents you from relying on the protections or bringing proceedings in the courts available to you where you live within the UK. No compulsory arbitration or restriction to a distant court is imposed.

16. Changes, interpretation and contact

The terms in force when you order apply to that order. We may update terms for future orders and website use and show the revision date. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining lawful provisions continue. A delay in enforcing a right does not automatically waive it. Statutory rights take priority over conflicting wording.

Questions, cancellations and complaints can be sent to [email protected]. The linked delivery information and returns information explain practical arrangements; they must be read consistently with your statutory rights.

17. Optional cancellation notice

You may use this wording, but do not have to:

To Dimalight Born To Burn, by email to [email protected]:
I give notice that I cancel my contract for the following goods:
Order number:
Ordered on / received on:
Customer name:
Customer address:
Date:
Signature (only if sent on paper):

18. Promotions, gift messages and third-party recipients

Any promotion is subject to its stated eligibility, expiry and product restrictions. You can see whether a discount has been applied before payment. We will not withdraw an accepted offer retrospectively or reduce your statutory rights. A promotion that says “up to” does not promise the maximum saving on every item or option.

If you arrange a gift delivery, make sure you may provide the recipient’s details and that the address is correct. Keep gift notes lawful and appropriate. Tell us promptly about an accidental disclosure or personalisation mistake so that we can discuss available corrections.

19. Privacy and cookies

The Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy are separate notices. They explain how the shop uses personal information and your choices. Agreeing to an order’s terms does not waive data-protection rights. An optional marketing or cookie choice can be changed independently of an order.
